Like any good Model Snob, my ears perked up when I heard that the cast list for the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show had been released. Knowing that both Candice Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo would be sitting this year's show out because they have both recently given birth (to what will probably be the most beautiful babies in existence), I was anxious to hear which women would have a larger part in the show, and which first-timers would make an impact.

Who's Coming Back?

Along with a slew of newcomers, Victoria's Secret is bringing back some of our favorite faces to the runway. Every Angel (including Taylor Hill, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and Stella Maxwell) will return to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, except Candice and Behati for reasons mentioned above. In addition to this gorgeous group of talented women, other coveted faces such as Karlie Kloss, Liu Wen and Joan Smalls. Other notable models working the catwalk this year: BFF's Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid (whose sister Bella will also be gracing the VS runway in 2016). The two women were asked back after making their debut at last year's show.

Who's Rocking the Fantasy Bra?

The announcement that Jasmine Tookes would rock the Fantasy Bra at this year's show was exciting to say the least. Jasmine is a member of the new Angel class, and is one of a handful of Black women to get the honor. This year, the Fantasy Bra's worth rings in at $3,000,000 - not exactly chump change. I'm looking forward to seeing Jasmine represent the new Angel class on that glamorous walk down the runway.

Who's Looking to Shine?

The most exciting news to come out of the lineup announcement: the number of newcomers to the Victoria's Fashion Show runway. With their largest cast to date - 58 models to be exact - a large portion of them are rookies at the VS Fashion Show. Even more interesting is the number of them who are considered high fashion models in the industry. These are women who are not considered commercially beautiful or sexy - they are cast in couture shows because of their uniqueness and interesting features. Below are the women who I am most excited to see make the transition from high fashion runways to the Victoria's Secret fashion show:

I think there is something to be said from Victoria's Secret's decision to cast high fashion models in its show. It says that to be sexy or beautiful, it is not as important to be attractive to the lowest common denominator as it is to simply embrace your individual beauty. It also shows that brands are realizing that traditionally beautiful features are not the only ones that are marketable to a commercial audience. I hope to see this look toward a diversity in features continue and be emulated by other commercial brands such as commercial beauty brands and online retailers.
