After writing Winter Leaves Me Wanting, I had a burst of creativity and motivation. I knew what I wanted to do with my blog and I created a plan to keep myself on track. The only problem was it didn't work.
I know what you're thinking - another blog about not blogging. That's what I'm thinking too and I'm pretty annoyed with myself that it's come to this yet again. I have had so much outside motivation from friends and family, so much encouragement from other bloggers and I still couldn't get myself to sit in front of my laptop and write a post that I could be proud of. Life was getting in my way and I was letting it.
Recently, on a prop run for my 9-5 job, I was moseying around the magazine section in Barnes & Noble and came across a magazine with a cover that really stood out to me. Belong Magazine, above, drew me in without any context as to what it contained. Upon opening its pages and discovering that it was meant for female bloggers and entrepreneurs, I was sold. Three days later I put down the publication feeling like a whole new person.
Inside Belong Magazine were endless stories of women who had made their own dreams come true and helped a lot of other women along the way. They created communities where women could bounce business ideas off of each other, started retreats where women could focus on the advancement of their businesses instead of everyday to-dos, and they created podcasts, blogs and online courses that would teach a young female entrepreneur anything sh'ed need to know.
While it should have never been so difficult for me to see, this magazine really opened my eyes to all the opportunities that exist for women - even those who didn't graduate with a business degree - to become their own boss, to start a new company, to do something different and get to influence every step along the way. I've been starting to think about if that way of life could be in my future.
What I'm trying to say is - just when you think that you're going to let yourself give up on something, or that you don't have time to do something that you love, maybe you'll get a sign from the universe that tells you to keep going in the right direction or to switch things up a bit. Maybe something that you started as a hobby could impact your future in a bigger way. I'm just going to have to wait and see , but I can't wait to find out.
